Learn How To Fix An Xbox 360

Saving money wherever you can is always a good idea. Everything costs so much these days and so if there is a task that you can take on yourself rather than paying someone to do it, why not? The Xbox 360 video game system is one of the most popular out there today, but at some point you are probably going to need to learn how to fix an Xbox so you can do it yourself. You can learn to fix an Xbox in no time at all and save yourself money.

Most computer repair stores will charge at least $150 and take a month to fix, so you will not be able to play your games that whole time. However if you fix your game on your own you can get right back to playing. If you see this red ring you do not worry because it does not mean that your Xbox 360 is permanently damaged. These three red flashing lights are dreaded by Xbox players but you can fix it on your own.

First you will need a fine tip screwdriver and then you need to start disassembling your Xbox console. Be very careful as you lift the motherboard up and out, because this is the main part of your Xbox system. The last thing you want to do is break your motherboard because then you will have a lot more problems than three red flashing lights. Snoop the X-clamp and then you unscrew the heat sink because you need to get access to both the CPU and GPU.

Always be patient while you are screwing off the tiny parts in the motherboard, so to not dent or snap anything off accidentally. You need to clean both the GPU and CPU, and this is a very critical step to getting rid of the red ring so make sure you do it right. The last thing you want is to miss spots, end up putting the system all back together only to find that you have to go back in and clean the pieces better. Then you use some Arctic Silver thermal compound over top of the GPU, ensuring that it does not drip anywhere else on the motherboard.

You can get a small bottle of this stuff for under five bucks at any computer hardware shop. Once you let this set you want to follow up by playing two nylon washers on each screw and then two more. Finally you add two more washers and reassemble the system. Now you are finished and you can start playing your favorite games again, all for just a bit of your time and a couple of dollars.
